Travel Agents

The obvious consequence of booking your vacations online is that travel agents are used less and less. It is not only because you can book your vacation form the comfort of you home but generally, it will be less expensive as well. Being of the old school, I still use my local travel agent and while they remain there, I will continue to do so eve though I do actually carry out research online.
It isn’t difficult to go ahead and check out the destinations that you are thinking about exploring and I have done that many times; I have even looked at rates to see if they are affordable before I approach a travel agent. Part of the problem is that they are often only perceived as a person who just books vacations when they are actually able to do so much more for you, like answering specific travel questions. We often forget about the differences in laws for each country something it can be easy to fall foul of when you travel and something your travel representative should be able to help you with.
They can make recommendations of places that are particularly interesting, if there are any fees for entry into specific countries and laws relating to driving that can be easy to fall foul of.It is the one very clear distinction between using the internet for your travel arrangements and a travel representative; and just how they can help you make the most of your vacation. Don’t get me wrong, the internet is great but it is not caring and it is always reassuring dealing with a real person. While it is easy and usually cheaper to do all you’re booking online, it is not so helpful when something goes wrong and you have to complain; something the travel agent is there for as well.A few years ago when my husband to be and I decided to elope and get married, it was a real travel agent that helped make it all possible.
She could not have done more for us and she seemed to take the arrangements very personally, something I have never forgotten.Once we had sorted out the budget she was able to give us plenty of options and was incredibly helpful in locating companies that could provide special services. As she was so quick to get all this done we decided to book the wedding and honeymoon almost straight away. I’m also a fan of travel agents over using the internet because if you end up booking the vacation from hell, you have no one to blame but yourself whereas if you used a travel agency, at least you’ll have someone to complain too.
