Australian Work, Study & Retirement Visas

July 31, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

Australian Visas are what we’ll be looking at in this part of our guide to emigrating to Australia

The Australian government offers a variety of different visas to potential immigrants; the type you need depends on what you’ll be doing there and how long you plan to stay there. The main types are as follows:

The skilled independent visa is a residency visa for those with qualifications and skills in demand. It’s not necessary to have an employer to sponsor you to get one but you’ll need to pass a points test (which evaluates your qualifications, experience, aptitude, etc.). An alternative is a business visa, which doesn’t require you to pass a points test so long as you’re sponsored by an employer.

A working holiday visa allows people aged 18 to 31 to stay in Australia for up to 12 months (with extensions being a possibility). These are aimed at travelers / backpackers though and working rights are limited to incidental employment of up to 6 months per employer to supplement your stay.

Retirement visas are designed for self-funded retirees who are 55 years or older, have no dependants (other than a spouse who can be any age), and who want to stay in Australia during their retirement years. It’s a temporary visa that allows you to stay in Australia for four years, though you can apply for subsequent ones on expiry, with each permitting you to stay for another four years.

To obtain a visa to study in Australia you’re required to be enrolled in an Australian academic institution and receive a Confirmation of Enrollment (which is issued after tutition fees have been paid in full). If you also plan to work with this visa you should apply for one with the additional right of ‘permission to work’.

Australian partner visas allow the partner, fiance, or spouse of permanent Australian residents (including immigrants) to also live and work in the country. Family visas can be obtained to also get these rights for dependent children, orphaned relatives and dependent relatives.

What Should You Expect With a Caribbean Cruise Deal?

July 30, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

This Spring you’ve decided to take the family on a Caribbean cruises. You’re in luck as around January and February there are all kinds of Caribbean cruise deals offered by all the major cruise lines. You’ll get all your meals, your rooms and entertainment packaged into one bundled price and that includes all your transportation; though your flight, if applicable, may be separate. To find a Caribbean cruise deal, you can check with your travel agent, you can go online to one of the several available travel websites or you can contact the cruise lines directly. Don’t be afraid if you can’t find a good Caribbean cruise deal this early on. You may get lucky closer to the cruise date by getting a last minute cruise deal. However, it’s best not to push it and it’s better to book now, while there are still rooms available as cruises are quickly becoming the most popular form of travel for many families. And, once you booked your cruise, what can you expect? For one, you can expect total relaxation along with total fun and entertainment.

No Worries

The best thing about scoring a Caribbean cruise deal is that you can lay back and absorb the sun’s rays with the wind blowing through your hair without a care in the world. All your boarding, food, entertainment and of course your travel are all included. There’s no driving, no traffic, no lines, no cash to worry about and there are no worries about where to eat or any other worries for that matter. You’re waited on hand and foot, there are restaurants and buffets and burger and pizza stands, you don’t have to pay with cash (you sign for everything and take care of everything when you depart the ship), you have music, casinos, and much, much more.

The Kids

Are you worried the kids may be bored on a Caribbean cruise deal? You don’t have to worry about that as there is so much to do as far as all ages are concerned. Most cruise lines have a kid’s club that allows the parents to have ‘adult time’. The kids are given activities and games and they’re completely entertained throughout the entire cruise. For teens, there’s often a Teen club that also has things for that age range. In short, no matter what your age, you’ll have a blast on a Caribbean cruise deal.

The long and short of it is that you’ll never again experience a vacation quite like a Caribbean cruise deal. With no worries and constant fun, why would you want to do anything else?

Perth City Breaks And Three First Class Visitor Attractions You Must See

July 30, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

The ‘Fair City’ of Perth in Scotland an ex royal burgh is sited at the head of the Tay estuary. Between the 12th and 15th centuries the city vied with Dunfermline for the right to be the capital of the country. In the article below I introduce 3 places to visit in Perth, Scotland; Elcho Castle, Huntingtower Castle and Scone Palace:

Scone Palace

At this time, Scone Palace is the home of the Earls of Mansfield, and a popular attraction to travelers from around the globe. Scone Palace is an important part of Scotland’s history, as the Scottish kings were once crowned there. Robert the Bruce was crowned at Scone Palace, in 1306, as well as Charles II when he took occupancy of the Scottish Crown in 1651. There is a beautiful and mysterious atmosphere to the palace, which is rightly so.Once upon a time the site was an important gathering place of the Picts and there was also a very early Christian church there.

Elcho Castle

situated roughly 3 miles from Perth, with glorious vistas across the River Tay, is Elcho Castle. The castle is one of the best examples of 16th century architecture in Scotland today. The Wemyss family authorized the erection of the castle in the 1570’s. The land had belonged to the family since 1468, when it was consigned to them by King James III. In 1633, the leader of the family was given the titles of Lord Elcho and Earl of Wemyss. Elcho Castle and it’s lands remained in possession of the Wemyss family until 1929. At this time, the 11th Earl of Wemyss, gave the castle to the nation. The castle has recently been renovated and is now in the charge of Historic Scotland.

Huntingtower Castle

Found just to the west of Perth is Huntingtower Castle, a medieval pile. Even though the structure is originaly medieval, it has been redeveloped significantly throughout most of it’s history. The Ruthven family were the owners of the castle and lands from the 12th to 17th century. During this time the castle consisted of two separate towers, built three meters apart. When the Murray family took possession, later on in the C17th, they decided to merge the two towers, making the house look more like a regular country abode. The bridging work between the two towers is still rather noticeable today, both on the exterior and interior.

If you are in the process of planning a holiday in Perth you will find a large amount of online Perth hotels and guest houses and you will find a broad range at http://www.perthhotelscotland.com/

Is Zanzibar a good holiday destination for you?

July 25, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

Zanzibar is also known as the Spice Islands. The name came about because the Islands of Zanzibar had some amazing spices on them, it is also one of the worlds largest Spice suppliers. Slowly becoming a huge tourist attraction, Zanzibar’s tourism industry is now one of its biggest money spinners. Here are a list of some of the things should see, and do when you get to Zanzibar:

First and foremost you have to go and visit the Spice refining factories; Zanzibar holidays are famous for these. If you are interested in visiting some of the spice factories around the island, then for about 6 pounds you can jump on a tour bus.

If you want a more in-depth and emotional experience, you can go and visit the old Slave Market. This does present us with the darker side of Zanzibar’s history but presents us with the realistic way in which the world used to be. This tour is definitely worth it, it gives great insight into the islands history and isn’t that expensive either.

Head over to the eastern side of the island and find yourself looking over sandy beaches. On the Island of Zanzibar you will find that there are offers all over the place to take you scuba diving.

Just for your information though, these people come from a very respectful and religious culture. It is recommended to keep limbs covered with clothing in public, and try not to smoke or chew gum in-front of people, this is considered insulting. It is considered polite to avoid eating during daylight when Ramadan is on, even if you don’t engage in it. This will show that you respect them as a people and they are very accommodating.

Go and enjoy a Zanzibar holiday or travel to the mainland for Botswana holidays or Namibia holidays as well.

Do Vegas holidays souly revolve around gambling?

July 19, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

So Vegas, the place you go to win big, or lose big, but is there anything else to this place were anything is possible. Well although Gambling and the quick Las Vegas weddings is what Vegas is known for, it does offer us some other interesting alternatives to spending all our time and money on, well money.

Las Vegas has many other different things we can do other than gamble, gamble, gamble. The tallest free standing observation tower in the USA is in Las Vegas and it is called the Stratosphere Tower. Vegas will be right below you and all around, this tower offers a beautiful view of the city. What else is there available to you, other than looking at the scenery from above? Huge amounts of food at your “disposal”, if your a big food lover you’re gonna love this. Instead of gamble, gamble, gamble, this is more grub, grub, grub, Vegas has buffets all over the place and is very famous for it. You have to try and get to Emeril’s, the food here is amazing and the waiting service is great as well.

So far we have; great view and eat your own weight in food. Make sure that no matter what you go and visit the Pool at the Mirage. All kinds of Las Vegas holidays mention this place in a deal and you should definitely check it out. As soon as you enter this place it looks as though you have just entered the Amazon rain forest. When you reach the end of this glorious forest, you meet a clear blue lake, just a small piece of heaven.

At some point if you have gone to Vegas, you are more than likely going to do a little gambling. Do your best to resist the urge of throwing money down at a blackjack table or the roulette as soon as you arrive. You can go to most gambling establishments and get a couple of tutorials to learn how to gamble a little better than you would normally. When you have finished your training, then if you must, go and spend away.

So Go to Vegas, and have a gamble, but enjoy the sites as well, well worth it.

An Artistic Eye On Glasgow

July 17, 2009 by ama57 · Leave a Comment

Glasgow is the largest, and most vibrant, city in Scotland with wonderful opportunities for shopping plus an amazing night scene. For the more bohemian tourist there are numerous places to go in the West End of Glasgow which features boutiques, bars, tea rooms, cafés, restaurants and clubs as well as some upmarket bed and breakfast in Glasgow. In the article which follows I will discuss three Glasgow visitor attractions which should be especially interesting to those who have an interest in all things artistic; the House For An Art Lover, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the Burrell Collection:

Burrell Collection

Sir william Burrell and his wife gifted the Burrel Collection to the city of Glasgow in 1944 and the collection can be viewed at Pollok Country Park which is found in the south of Glasgow This astounding collection of art works is made up of more than 9 thousand items. The collection is incredibly cosmopolitan containing some modern artistic sculptures plus a collection of Islamic art. Visitors can view works of art by the likes of Cezanne and Degas. Besides sculptures and paintings you can enjoy the beautiful collections of English furniture, tapestries, alabasters and stained glass. As well as all this, the Burrell Collection also contains a most important selection of medieval art and collections from ancient Chine & Egypt.

The House For An Art Lover

The House For An Art Lover is one of the most popular attractions in Glasgow. This incredible Art Nouveau house was originally designed by Glasgow’s most famous architect, Charles Rennie Mackintosh with some assistance from his talented wife.

In actual fact the design was made for a 1901 competition to create a design for a ‘House for an Art Lover’, however, the Mackintoshs’ entry was disqualified because it was submitted after the closing date. Luckily, over 100 years later the house stands in Bellahouston Park because of the efforts and hard work of the architect Professor Andy Macmillan and the engineer Graham Roxburgh. Building commenced in 1989, halted for a short time but resumed in 1994 due to the collaboration between the Glasgow City Council and Glasgow School of Art.

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

One of Scotland’s finest museums and art galleries, the Kelvingrove Art Gallery is where you will find one of the greatest civic art collections in Europe, but also it has been voted one of the most popular free to enter attractions to be found in Scotland.

You will discover Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum on the banks of the River Kelvin, on Argyle Street, in the West End of Glasgow. The gallery was constructed in a Spanish Baroque styleusing the traditional Glaswegian material of red sandstone. It was designed by E.J. Milner Allen and Sir John W. Simpson and opened for the first time in the year nineteen hundred and one. The museum’s collections were originally from the old Kelvingrove House Museum in Kelvingrove Park and the McLellan Galleries.

If you are planning to have a weekend break in Glasgow you will find a large amount of online hotels and guest houses providing Glasgow bed and breakfast accommodation. You will find a broad selection of Glasgow hotel accommodation at http://www.glasgowhotelscotland.com/
